To a place called Vertigo

Would anyone disagree that the Edge of U2 gets some of the best tonal quality around. I listened to vertigo the other day (just recently picking up some U2) and his guitar just stands out in a way you just can't forget.

He does get good tones. I'm not sure about in the studio, but live he uses a bunch of Line 6 gear like the POD Pro, and some of the rack effects they have.

Im not a big fan of the edge, his stuff is either highly delayed/reverbed jangly stuff or a Gibson SG.
Vertigo is so similar to Elevation, the vocal melody anyway.
Joshua tree is my fave thing hes done, that whole album is brilliant!

So the Edge likes to dangle, so what? haha
he's a guitarist who knows how to get some serious tone out of his axe

Personally I can't stand their music, but just last week I saw him on tv discussing his tones and his current setup to change them live...there's some kinda monster controller doodad that routes the signal in different ways to multiple amps/effects that are essential for certain sounds of the studio. It's like a whole bleacher (sports park benches) full of amps and racks all tied with patch cords and I think it stays offstage as well.

I would like to see the edge play on my little 15W ibanez. I wonder how frustrating that would be for him

I'm sure that the edge started off on some rattly little guitar playing in a pub in ireland and that he'd still make a lot of us look like c**p in comparision to his playing ability. I'm a fan and I do like his distinctive tone - but like most of us i guess that he started off as a 'learner' and had to build up his repertoire. ~top marks to the man. just a thought.
