My Ibanez RG170r just dosent sound right.....
I have read that the standard pick ups are not that great..
does anyone have any suggestions?
Nice action on this axe.......
I also have a roland cube....which isint bad but,
I will be purchasing a DD3 and a MT2 (since BOSS does not make the
metal zone anymore) and, will be running through the "clean" line.
threfore, The sound should be just right......
But...the pickups are my worry...
Thanks....

What dosn't sound right about it?The BOSS MT2 is the metalzone by the way.I have a Roland cube 15 and I dont need a pedal in the line to get a good distortion(and i'm using a stock ibanez GAX70).

Don't waste your money on things that won't provide any solution.

Well, like I said, the cube 15 (roland) isnt bad. But,I have not used other guitars through the amp.
I do have experience with the DD3 and the metal zone. (great combo)

Hmmmmm...thinking....get the dd3 and the mt2.....then,if need be replace the ups.....

However, since it's a bottom range Ibanez, you may want to stick some different pups in.

Unless of course, the problem is your amp or something...

But the pickup change wouldn't hurt anyway if you've got the cash

sorry but, I will have to dissagree with you on the Metal zone.....
I have at one time owned both and, preferred the Metal zone to the MT2.
(sorry, matter of personal pref....)

There an MZ-2 as well at one time (I used to have one it was nice). Maybe that is where the confusion is coming from ?

I still think the Boss OD-20 is a good buy as for a little more cash you get a lot more versatility.
