did you solder the wires to the plug correctly? i'd suggest getting an unbalanced quarter inch if you're really gonna try the speaker trick. negative goes to the sleeve and positive goes to the tip.

or are you talking about using headphones and just plugging it into the computer? i don't know if that'd work properly or not because it's two headphones wired up in a stereo pair on a tps 1/8'th inch. probably something like left on the tip and right on the ring and both negatives going to the sleeve. doubt that'd work right for plugging into somewhere and recording...or you gotta speak into the other speaker....not sure.
