actually that's very much true and very fun to do. and if you really get into recording...what you can do is take speakers like headphone speakers or ones that are like...6 to 8 inches and set them up on drums...great way to get an isolated signal.

speakers are the same thing as dynamic microphones except with signal flowing through and out of it. if you really wanted to, you could use an sm57 for a speaker...but who'd want to do that?
