Ultimate distortion!

I finally found it! Ok, so I got a Boss Metal Zone a few weeks ago, and really wasn't that impressed. I also have an MXR ZW-44 overdrive which I love to bits. Here's what I did. I plugged my Classic 50 into my Marshall 4x12, turned the clean channel's volume up to about 3-4 o'clock and the master to taste, which gives me a really fat clean sound. Then I got the metal zone set for somewhat of a good rythm chunk, then I turned the gain all the way down and the level all the way up on the overdrive and the tone around 12-1 o'clock and kick it on with the metal zone to give it a really tight and sharp distortion. Oh, and the gain on the metal zone is around 10 o'clock. Nothing extreem in the gain department, just a very tight, crisp, chunkey, not the least bit muddy, cut straight through the mix distortion.

Here's how my effects chain is set up:

Guitar-->Ernie Ball volume pedal-->Cry Baby wah-->MXR ZW-44 overdrive-->Boss Metal Zone-->Boss CH-1 chorus-->Boss DD-3 Delay-->Digitech Digiverb-->amp Boss TU-2 tuner in the tuner out of the volume pedal.

It always a blast to nail a tone that just makes your day.A 'clean' distortion is the sound youve come across as I would call it.I'm impressed you nailed such an awsome tone with so much in the chain...I had trouble getting 'the tone' with just the dist,comp and gate and it wouldn't play nice with my wah...very touchy.It might be a good idea to write your settings down just in case(some people feel that they may turn knobs that don't belong to them)

My brother did that to me, he does it a lot actually. I guess I'm going to have to get some funny revenge. I'm thinking gay porn on his school locker door so when he opens it everyone will see it, that would be hilarious, but getting the "ahem" wouldn't be the easiest thing to do.

I see you're a big Boss pedals fan - me too. You might be interested in trying out the Boss DS1 distortion pedal - it's a gud 'un by all accounts and will let the sound of your guitar be heard (if that's what you want), or u can set it up to full high-gain for a bit of a scream. I find it works very well if you overdrive an already overdriven valve amp with it.

I'm on me third one at this stage ... :rolleyes:

Hey PRS,you have the zack wylde overdrive...isn't that alot like the DS1?(I read thats what zack used before they made the mxr for him)

Zakk used the SD-1, not the DS-1. It's supposed to be a like a slightly modded SD-1
