Has drinking helped your social life?

No, but I enjoy it anyway.

I stopped drinking regularly when I was about 19... now Im 22 and I rarely drink. It bugs me that some people think you need to drink to have fun. For me, sitting in the pub, drinking coke, shooting pool and listening to some good tunes on the jukebox is what makes a good night.

If you think about it... drink just weakens your senses... slows your brain down... how can that make you have a cooler time?

Easily. For example, if that band sucks and you can't tell the difference you're going to have a better time.

Personally, I enjoy Bourbon, Gin and Tonics and a few other drinks. I never drink purely to get drunk and I never drink anything I don't enjoy drinking.

So, if I'm at a party and there's three kegs of Budweiser sitting there for all to have at but nothing else, I'll just stay sober the whole night.

From the sounds of it, you're just as well off sticking to soda so all the more power to ya. I just like the visceral, life affirming experience of shooting bourbon a lot more.

I spose its cos when I learnt to drive... its kinda way cooler being able to leave the pub and be tucked up in my bed within 5mins, than to have to wait on a taxi or walk home!

I'll spend like 3 quid in a nite on 4 cokes... meanwhile my pals with spend around a tenner on 4 pints.

Is it obvious Im scottish from the way I type? I totaly tryn tone it down for when I get on internet forums!

I went out after work last night and got routed. Now the base of my skull has it's own pulse and I can't enjoy this beautiful 80 degree day :(. Oh well, I guess it was worth it. :D

If someone could translate this that would be great. I would love to take a trip to Scotland, but I'm wondering if I should learn the language first?

Oh, and I don't drink.....well I haven't been drunk, just mildly buzzed at best.

I don't drink that often, but last Christmas Eve me and my bud who was home from the Navy for holidays killed a bottle of Jager. It snowed 4-6 inches that night which is unheard of in Houston (last time it snowed at all was 1993 I think, and last time it snowed on Christmas Eve was 1920-something). Thus after instant warmification shots of Jager-meister we proceeded to try and build a snowman at 2:00 am. However being so inebreated and ignorant in the ways of snow we couldn't figure it out. We were trying to shovel the snow into a pile, then form the body, sort of like how we're used to building a sand castle here at the beach. I think we got the pile (which quickly turned into unformable ice) about 2 ft. high before we gave up, sticking our broom we used to sweep the snow defiantly into it. Yes any reasonable (and sober) person would've rolled the snow into big balls that compose the body of the snowman, but that wouldn't make as good a story now would it?

If you went into some places in scotland... youd think it was another language. Ive met people on holiday and thought they were foreign when really they were from nearby towns

I also only get smashed a few times a year, just to see some of the stupid things people do. But that's really where I cross the line. I do drink socially, because I actually like the taste of most alcohol. When I mean drink socially I'll have a drink with dinner or something.

What I don't understand is drugs. I've never done any and I don't plan on it. But it pisses me off when friends do drugs and say they aren't addictive and they are "controlling themselves", yet they can't stop doing it. They get sucked into and have to do it to look "cool" in front of their friends. Then they become dependant on it and everything starts slipping away from them and THEN they realize what they're doing. Sad.
