Hi :D , I'm a beginer in guitar playing and i'm intrested in Music such as "Metallica", "Cacophony", "Guns'n'roses", etc... i think thats 80's music. The question is which songs are suitable for beginers? Which is the more instructive as to lear to play this kind of music? Are there other recomendable bands?

PS: I've seen the ones propoesed here but i don't realy like that music

You could easily do the intro to enter sandman, just go to mxtabs or ultimate-guitar for the tabs, also the intro to sweet home alabama isn't very hard for beginners, as for learning, just type beginer in the home search for some lessons and exercises

Not sure if yer into em, but their heyday was the 80's...ZZ Top has some easy riffs for beginners. Cheap Sunglasses, Under Pressure, and several others are mostly just power chords. As far as Metallica goes, Sanitarium and Fade to Black were my 1st metal songs to learn. But truthfully if you like Slayer, they're surprisingly easier. I've figured out numerous songs of theirs by ear, South of Heaven and Expendable Youth coming to mind. Of course I still couldn't attempt their solos, but if you know power chords, you can probably play most of their albums.

I think this is one of the biggest mistakes for beginning guitarists. Don't learn riffs at first! I think the best way to go starting out is Chords Chords Chords! Just play songs that play standard chords (A E D or anything) and get used to all the basic chords plus the bar chord that can be played anywhere on the guitar:

Am
-5
-5
-5
-7
-7
-5

A Major
-5
-5
-6
-7
-7
-5

I think this is the quickest way to develop fundamental skills on the guitar. If you absolutely must, try not to spend more then 20% of your time learning riffs.

Yea, don't think that if you can play a couple riffs that your progressing well, once you get into more complicated playing you'll get very frustrated fast. But that doesn't mean not to learn a couple riffs every now and then to entertain yourself.
