Hey guys.

Recently my current amp went crazy and started making overdrive on anything and everything that went through it. So the thing is that I would like a new amp now, one that will work for gigs (I play some gigs for money now and then) and one that will work for studio (micing the amp that is)
My budget is not to big but its decent and before I started making any decisions I thought that some of you might be able to give some constructive advice on the amps you have yourself or on amps you have tried.

Thanks for reading, cheers

My current amp is a combo, a behringer Gx110. Bought it about 4 years ago or something like that.

My budget is max 800$, And I was thinking about getting a stack. After reading looking through my local musicshops offers I saw a half-stack marshal deal.
It consists of:

1 MG100H DFX Top
1 MG412 A/B Cabinet

For around 700$

What do you say?

Run for the hills my friend, stay well away from the mg series.Hmmm,I can completley recommend a carvin SX300 stack though.I had an SX200 and it ripped.

here http://www.carvin.com/products/single.php?ItemNumber=SX3412&CID=GA

It blows away any low end marshall. With the new '70/80's in the cabs now,It should be even better.Lots of randall cabs use 70/80's and they charge like twice the price.

I'm a big fan of Crate's, just make sure you play it before you buy it. Sometimes the got a crappy sound, but I love the way my 212 sounds

Living in denmark makes it a bit tough to get all brands and I'm afraid I cannot get Crates anywhere. Any other suggestions?

Try checking out peavey if you can. I've got a Classic 50 2x12 that is very good. This is probably my favorite amp I've ever played. Plus if you plug is into a 4x12 cab, it will rock you ball's off! BTW, it is very loud, and I believe it's in your price-range. Peavey is really making some great gear these day's, so I suggest checking them out.

As they said before, try before you buy.

I wouldn't give any more than $350 USD for it. I don't know much about the amp other than what I read on Harmony-Central. I don't believe I would buy this amp without trying it first!

Very well then, I'll pass it on then since I can't really listen to it (at least not now)

Thanks for your feedback, I'll keep you informed ;)

Lurk on eBay. A late-60's-to-early-70's Traynor YBA-1 Bassmaster head can be had for ~$300. A Magnavox-era Ampeg V-2 head may run a bit more - say ~$400. A used 2x12" or 4x12" cab shouldn't cost more than $300.

That gives you a rig you can do amazing things with for as long as you want to play. And you've still got some coin left for a couple of pedals.
