To go back to the original question

I've got a Bandit 65 I bought back in '87. The only way I found to do this in a satisfactory way was using a modeling pedal or effects unit. The ones I use with it are a SansAmp or Behringer V-Amp although just about any modeler will work well with the PA like clean channel.

This is a hidden strength of the Bandit. It can get quite loud with a modeler and not start clipping like a lot of solid-state amps will do. It can also be used with other instruments, like keyboards, or as a mini-PA and sound good.

True enough, tube amps do great things for the blues, but I've heard plenty SS amps that pulled off the blues just as good if not better. One of the biggest surprises was a Schecter 006 Delux through some Crate amp that had a bunch of built in effects.

Do some research! I think we can all agree that Albert King was a good blues player. He used transistor amps.

I'm just glad I haven't acquired an acute enough ear to be able to tell the difference yet. The day I find out what I'm missing will be a sad day for my bank account

True enough. Tonequest is often an expensive and frustrating pursuit.
