when I heard of this case I immediatley remembered the movie "One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest." I can see both point of views 1.The husband would have terri rest in peace rather than have her life perpetuated in a silent like torture by unatural means and 2.Terri's parents have protective feelings over Terri and thats only natural because parents or guardians are suppose to have those kind of feelings. All in all if it were me there, I'd want to die. After I saw One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest (which was a long time ago)I told myself "if I was ever in that position I'd want to die too." If you've never seen it one of the characters "Chief" is very autistic like, and has no freinds. through the move Murphy (the main character(JackNicholson)) never gives up hope in Cheif and eventually towards the end Cheif talks to Murphy and befreinds him keep in mind Cheif has never really had any types of freinds here and Murphy is like Cheifs' Lord and savior. Now we'll skip ahead to the end when the psycho ward decides that Murphy is too dangerous a character and decides to give him a lobotomy. That night when Murphy returns he is escorted to his bed by a couple of guards and tied down. When Cheif trys to talk to him he discovers what's taken place. He contemplates to himself for a moment, grabs his pillow and asphyxiates Murphy his one and only freind. Why? because Cheif knew that Murphy wouldnt want to go on that way.Terris husband was thinking of Terri when he made his decision, he'd seen her scratching at the walls of an invisible barrier and screaming through an emiotionless, spiritless, and muted body to be released.
