Hey everybody,

Well, I thought I would ask since there are some very knowledgable folks around here- I'm interested in adding a bit of a Spanish style to my playing, so I guess I'm most curious, not so much about techniques in terms of fingerpicking or arpeggiating chords, but of playing lead parts- I believe Spanish guitar music is more modal, but I'm not sure which mode tends to be the most useful- if anyone has suggestions, it would be appreciated, of course if I'm totally out in space, call me out, all right?

I'm also curious as to common chord progressions, i.e., like the blues is usually I,IV,V, what would you folks say as far as Latin music- any help would be cool- I'm way too stuck in the blues and I need to spice it up a bit.

Try this scale (spanish gypsy = or atleast that's what it was called when I saw it last)

1 2b 3 4 5 b6 b7

for the key of C it'd be

If your more directed into the flamenco style of Spanish music, learn to fingerpick.
Just some techniques you might want to look up :

Tremolo - playing treble as rythem with your index, ring, and middle fingers and bass as lead with your thumb.

Rasqueado - Spanish strumming. Strumming with your Index, Pinky, Ring, Middle, and back to Index in that order. Do that fastly and stronly.
