I've created this thread as the yin to the "Have a Rant!" thread's yang. Let's rave about stuff we like!

DVR

I just got cable/high speed internet this past weekend after about 4 weeks of coming home to an empty apartment and being bored out of my mind. I got a DVR with my cable setup and it is freaking awesome. Talk about a sweet way to ensure you never miss your favorite programs as well as to cherry pick the best of what's out there.

I get an hour for lunch each day and come back home for it. It's a 10 minute drive to and from work, so that leaves me about 35-40 minutes for lunch at home. I make a sandwich, or reheat some leftovers and watch something on my DVR minus the commercials. The only problem is that I DVR so much stuff that I'm getting a hefty backlog of crap I need to watch before I delete. I guess that's what weekends are for! :D

What tickles y'all's fancy?

2) My new MOTU 828 mk II firewire interface (it is just so cool 20 simultaneous inputs !)

3) Cooking Sunday lunch with Yorkshire puddings (If we ever have a GT convention I will cook them for everyone !)

4) 15 year old Glenfidich Solera reserve

5) bending two half steps and slapping on the vibrato

6) People at GT

Good RPG video games(like morrowind or xenogears/Xenosaga)...nothing like locking yourself up for a month and sinking into other worlds, characters and deep storys.Ive experienced more vivid, touching, thought provoking story's than many avid book readers.

Joyrides...aimless and completley pointless joyrides with great music.Even more fun, sitting in traffic on the way to the beach with a nice heavy beer buzz, yelling helpful advice at people(my famouse "walking lowers your cholestorol!!!" shout)...good times.
Try once,fail twice...

  • Riding my FJ1200S on a twisty canyon road using Jesus for braking markers. (the voice in the back of your mind screams "Jeeezus!!!!" as you squeeze the levers)
  • Stuffing my VT-22 amp guts into a head sleeve so's I can put it up on top of my pair of Garnet 412 cabs and crank the volume full-pin
  • The look on some fresh-out-of-school engineer's face when I prove to him that his cost-reduced POS design can not possibly meet the requirements of the applicable regulations :p
  • The look on my face when a friend-of-a-friend says something like "Damn, that was good. You should record that!"

1. My wonderful wife, Cassandra.

2. My "mini-me" son, Therion.

3. ALL members of the band showing up for practice.

4. Cool RPG's, like those mentioned in a previous post.

5. Good friends.

6. That moment right after your band just finished a song......, you look at each other in silence for a few seconds........., and you're all thinking the same thing simultaneously........, "Man, that really kicked ***!!!!!".

7. Trying out different music equipment for the first time.

8. Watching a really cool movie without a bunch of distractions.

9. Tea! I LOVE TEA.

10. Discussing music with those here at GT. (I've never been interested in forums before, but there's something about this one.................).

How about two AND a half steps from the fifth below the root up to the root?
Although I've gotta say...putting decent vibrato on that bend would be tough...

Some things that I like...
*playing the drums, guitar, berry sax, bass clarinet, bagpipes
*making someone laugh till they are almost crying on the floor
*going through a near death experience and living to tell about it
*knowing that something you have said to a person has truley affected
them in a positive way
*fighting, just for the adrenalin rush
*fixing things (houses, my car, relationships)
*learning
