Problem #1: So I installed my own strap locks a few years back. The screw has been wiggled loose and screwed back in so many times that now it won't hold at all. It slides in and out as it's been completely bored out. I've thought about putting a wider screw in my guitar but didn't want to go that route unless I absolutely had to. I hope I described my problem adequately enough for y'all to know what I'm talking about.

Problem #2: I just got a new computer with a badass speaker system. I've plugged my RP300 into my soundcard and only get playback through my left speaker. The other speakers work fine when I play an mp3, but not at all when I'm tryin' to jam. I've plugged into both lines in (ie line1, line2) as well as the microphone input and all with the same result. Any ideas?

Problem #3: I've been jamming out with this dude I met at work for the past 3 or so weeks. We've been playing about the same amount of time, and are of comparable skill levels. However our styles are completely opposite (which we think can work for us). I'm more of a whiskey blues rock kinda guy, and he's more of a, "I just huffed a baloon full of god knows what in the parking lot before the dead show" jam band kinda guy. When I come in with most of my distortion tones I sound like a 14-year-old slipknot kid (something I don't want!). It's just cause his tone is completely void of any distortion so I sound way harsh in comparison. I'm trying to find a clean sorta david gilmour, eric clapton (when he kicked ass) kinda tone. Any other ideas?

Problem #4: It burns when I pee.

1.Duct tape if its a beater...take it to a good luthier if its your baby(or somewhere in between)

2.Are they mono outs/ins/connectors/adapters?I'm actually having a similar problem...after recording a guitar track,if I try to 'pan' the sound to the right, the sound dissapears...the track also goes out of sync with my drum track...NUTS TO RECORDING!!!

3.ease off the gain or play with his(gain)

4.Me too...just dont pee.

3. You could find a less harsh distortion. Listen to Joe Satriani or Steve Vai's recordings (I know you have them...I've been WATCHING YOU!!!) and you can hear they don't have that much gain in there. I don't think abandoning distortion entirely is the way to go, it still has value, and can sound pretty awesome when paired with a clean tone guitar if it's done tastefully. I'll send you a recording of my band jamming with my guitar distorted and my buddy's guitar clean.

4. Well, my friend, you have Gonorrhea. Good luck with that, and next time where a glove.

Here's my solutions.......

1.) trim a small piece of wood that will fit in the hole where the screw goes, glue it in, and just screw the screw back into it after the glue dries....this method worked on my Ibanez which did the same thing.

2.) probably something to do with a setting in the window's mixer....or the mixer that came with the soundcard if it came with one....try other settings.

3.) Opposite styles can work..The other guitarist in my band and I have completely different styles, tones, ect......I play a Music Man through a Marshall while he plays a Gibson through a Mesa Boogie..He's more bluesy sounding and a little sloppy while I am a little more technical and more precise. Opposite's, but it works for us.....He has a little more gain than me, but not really much. You'll either need to back off on your gain, or increase his a bit...

4.) You might want to see a doctor about that burning.....

Don't lie.

Just accept your STDs like a man.

Problem 1) Take it to a tech, since you're making the big bucks these days.

Problem 2) What is your profession again? :p

Problem 3) Tasteful distortion like Jolly said, Steve Vai type distortion.

Problem 4) ACCEPT IT!!!

Hope that helped!

1) I guess that's what I'll do.

2) Software Developer - Not a windows/hardware guru.

3) Speaking of Vai, I'm going to see him on March 8th. Who's jealous, again?

You could tap the whole with a thick tap and drill the whole on the metal piece so the new screw fits. Before you intall put the strongest glue you can find in so it will be good for a long time; just make sure you don't put too much in. Make sure that your body isn't a hollow one like i've seen, if so, take it to a specialist.

2) Yes, but you've spent plenty of time on that computer for how long while you were in school. You should know it inside and out! :p

3) So am I, so I'm not jealous. I have tickets for April 10 I believe.

So there!!!

Anyways, good try though!!

If you click on the link to them, it explains them.

Something about getting to go to soundcheck, and a q&a session with Vai, a guitar pick, and some other crap.

Do you think it will be the Vai band with him?? I mean Tony MacAlpine, Billy Sheehan, Virgil Donati, and Dave Weiner??? I hope to God, because I want to see Billy Sheehan rock the bass.

Same lineup as "Live at the Astoria". AKA The Steve Vai band. It'll be an AWESOMELY badass time.

I may have an idea about the stripped screw. There is an epoxy that they sell at home improvement stores( can't remember the name) that comes in two "sticks" to activate the epoxy you take a little of each stick (just enough to fill the hole) and mash them together. when they are mixed just stuff into the hole and then screw the screw in while it is still moist. Let it set overnight before trying to use the strap lock.
Hope this helps.
Spirit

P.S. I'm not sure about guitars but stuffing pieces of wood or other foriegn objects into the hole can definately crack window and door frames. Found that out first hand. :(

Dude, if it's the Steve Vai Band, I am definitely going to love it.

That is awesome news, and if you're lying, I will have your nuts in a jar on my desk. For display only.....
