I think that I need to add that I already listen to a lot of styles of music and I also play sax.

I know its hard to judge without hearing it, but I'm using a digitech effects that was made in the early 90s and a $300 4 track to record with. I was wondering if this could be why my songs might sound dated. Or does the recording have nothing to do with it, and its just my music?
