LOL, nah I dont actually like hendrix. Most people agree his contribution to music was massive but his stuff sounds dated to me. Its like the beatles, yea they are great but its a dated sound. I think oasis are better than the beatles.. they copied the heck outa them but who cares.

Thats to bad, Jimi Hendrix inspired me to play guitar with his crazy soloing. Which later influenced me to listen to more crazy sh*t like Pantera and Slayer. Even though I now think he's sh*t, I still think people should know who he is.

I personally think Buddy Holly did more for modern music than Hendrix.

You actually raise an excellent point there; the sounds they made (Hendrix, and the Beatles) need to be considered in the context in which they were made to show how innovative they were. Sure people have built on their methods, but like Isaac Newton said they are "standing on the shoulders of giants."

If you listen to Castles made of sand, the backward guitar solo is no big deal by today's standards, but for its time, it was NUTS. Also, when you listen to Hendrix, check out his rhythm section: Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding were UNREAL.

No abuse from me... perhaps just some rambling!

Hmmm... let's get this straight... you think that Oasis is better than the Beatles, even though Noel has yet to create a chord progression that wasn't directly lifted from them? I don't think you'll find a single other person that agrees with that statement. It's an utter crock.

But, I guess you said that you think that they're better, not an outright statement that they are, so I shouldn't be slagging your opinion.

Anyways, if you go around saying things like that, you really should expect abuse.

*Stunned silence* You commit sacrilage on this holy guitar website...never take Hendrix's name in vain...and never ever insult his glory.

Actually you are free to your own opinion, but I really respect a lot of the stuff Hendrix did...even if he wasn't the fastest ever...shredding didn't really come around 'til the 80's.

I said Oasis copied the heck outa the beatles didnt I!! But oasis have a more modern sound, sing about modern issues that young people like me can relate to, and they were the best british band around through my teens.

So yes.. I think they are better.

If you invented an amazing innovitive invention.. (bare with me on this!).. then I copied it... but made one subtle change to it that people prefered. Then Im sorry but no matter how important you were in the process of its creation, my newer version is gona be better.

Oasis are a great band!! They sing about things I can relate to. They have two great singers. And thanks to cleverly, or cheekily, studying their influences, the beatles, stone roses, t-rex, the result is something very cool.

*awaits lordathestrings next racial slur*
