which stage am i on?

Okie..

i can play all majors, sharps, power, minors and barred chords..

started off a 3 yr classical guitar course from yamaha but quited the 1st yr..so i took like 1 yr of class only

play some pentatonics and arpeggios.. but i really do not know what and which i am playing.. i simply pick it off some sites and just keep practicin them.. can sweep alittle or two.. although i aint smooth in doing it..

cant write solos.. riffs is okay..

writes some originals.. my band does punk rock.. although i listen punk music.. but im much on guitar stuffs.. jimi hendrix.. joe satch.. malmsteen.. angelo etc..

have lotsa problems with timing.. i still dont get how to keep up with beats till now.. sigh :o

been on guitar for 2+ years to be exact..

wonder u guys consider someone like me beginner or amature or advance? cause i planning to improve my playing and wonder to continue from where.. thanks! :)

first off the first two years are pretty rough
you can believe me i just left the two year point into my third or fourth whatever long story

playin gigs?(probably got a while to go since you cant solo off the top of your head and you cant keep rythme which isnt gonna do for a rythme guitar)
so a couple tips my freind ok
one: get a drum machine
i would say get a tickie tockie thing but they piss me off
so hehe anyways and for solos
i would recommend alot of depth into the scales and alot of singing the notes you are playing
after this you are on your way man

im pretty quite okie with timing and ryhme oredy.. (days of crooping myself in my room and practicing) :)

i've started on few original songs and pretty much maybe releasing an EP with my band this yr.. and of cos maybe gonna start giggin this year..

im playing punk rock.. hmm.. would not knowing how to solo affect me? :confused:

Punk rock allows for very sparse and minimalistic solos to work effectively- listen to old Sham 69 or Stiff Little Fingers, or The Clash- or on the other side of the pond: Minor Threat, The Ramones, Adolescents, Agent Orange, whatever, they all got progressively more complex but initially it was stuff anyone could do, but it was powered by attitude more than anything.

Well, here my two-cents for rythem:

work with the basic time signature first like 4/4(common time) Count off like this: 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & . After you get a good feeling for it. Play something basic with quarter notes. Just incanse a quarter note= 1 & count off. After you do that. Play something with 8th notes. basically equals= 1 count off then a & count off.

Key things to remember: First beat in a measure is the loudest(accented note) played. The &'s are softer so it's kind of like this: ONE and Two and Three and Four and.
