Yo
wassup
if you wana a pointer on how to get started
pick a artist and learn about him and his style and some of his songs, then go to the next artist
you will start to get a feel of a lot of genres and styles
this will help you decide what type of stuff you wana be able to write or play.
i recommend always the blues cus they kick and the rules are great when it comes to blues  technique doesnt really mean the same things by blues it just means sounding good so its pretty chilled some ppl look down on blues since there technique is bad who cares the blues dude doesnt care he is just tryen to rock out and enjoy the music no worry bout his technique
k later
the first year is always hard Samantha
but after a year and half things start to make sence on a guitar
rock on

When I was getting started, just about everyone I knew was playing, or learning to play. That meant that we were able to share ideas and help each other out. It makes a big difference when you have someone who can show you how it's done. If you don't have a lot of friends who can help you along, I strongly recommend finding another teacher. It takes a special talent to teach a beginner - I found out the hard way that I don't really have the patience for it. Keep at it. It does get better.[/font]

It does suck and is frustrating at first. I would have quit trying to play myself, but I would have been overwhelmed with guilt. begged my parnets for a guitar as a christmas present. Once you start to get good it becomes alot of fun. It takes discipline to learn how to play.
Bass guitar is the answer to everything
