Hey,
i found the tab for Anathema's Sentient,
he plays C-D-E-F#-G-A-B, but i dont know whats the root note,
one riff starts with A another starts with E and another with D, the song doesnt sound like G major, could it be in A dorian?

Hey there. I can't help with the theory thing but I thought I would tell you I used to be in a band with Danny from Anathema. He is an amazing guitarist. He taught me a lot. He lives about 2 miles from me. Just thought you might like to know.

Well while A dorian and E aeolian have identical key signatures, I wouldn't be surprised if the focus is more on the E, as the vi chord is more often the tonic chord than the ii. I don't know what the song sounds like, it could also be D mixolydian, but my guess is that the home note is E, and that its just plain old E minor.

Yeah still taking the jazz lessons, just had a gig today. That's a cool $100, plus fify from a gig a few weeks ago, plus fifty or so from another gig coming up, added to my other savings and i'm well on my way to a new guitar. Looking to spend somewhere in the $1000-1200 range on a used Gibson or Heritage or new Tacoma archtop.

I host jam sessions at my home every friday night! We're digging into jazz as it's really the end all to stylistic playing. All the players the come over really like it.

One of the guitarists just bought a $1200.00 gibson acoustic. I was surprized at how full it sounded, it is a really cool instrument. I have a custom Keller $2500.00 guitar, and the gibson held up to my sound. arghhhh! Those production models are just getting better and better for less and less.

Have you looked into Godin's? One of our session player's has two of them. They are really cool.

I love archtop guitars and Gibson makes some nice ones, but Joe Pass in his videos always played a Epiphone Sheraton type guitar. Not too expensive and if Joe played it, well its gotta be ok. P.S. buy any Joe Pass video you can, they are great!!!!!

One other Guitar I just discovered was the Gibson L5-CES.

Have you ever seen these guitars?

I saw one last summer for the first time, I have a dream!
