If you had to choose one line of electric guitars to used what would it be? I would choose Fender, cuz Fenders rock. I love the way they feel. They hold close to you, unlike Les Paul's that are sorda heavy and tend to fall away from you when you are playing. Don't get me wrong Les Paul's are cool, just not for me. I do like Gibson's SG though, there so light, and have a good feel. I see why Angus loves them so much. But I still stick with Fenders (Strat in perticular.)

Although I do like the tone of a Les Paul I do have to agree w/ you about being uncomfortable. On the other hand, some people like that feel. Personally I love my S Series Ibanez 7 string. The body conforms to my shape... almost like we were made for each other :). Also, it's really thin which makes it incredibly light weight. On top of that, the neck is so smooth. Which partly has to do with my guitar tech. It just plays awesome... plain and simple.

yeah, i noticed your name Bad Horsie. You get that from Vai. He uses a seven string sometimes doesn't he. I don't care too much for seven strings though. I guese it's because I'm used to six strings. If I want that low growl of a seven string, I tune my strat down. But now that I think of it, I can't remember what I tuned it to. that's funny. I'll have to look, I wrote it down somewhere. Oh well. I like Ibanezs. I played a Satriani. It was awesome. Well, catch ya later.

Hmm, I love strats too, and this seems to be more electric oriented, but here is a story. I went into a music store and I had some time to kill so I looked at the acoustics. I have a big steel strung acoustic, and I saw this tiny one, about the size of a classical guitar, thin, and elctric acoustic. It was a yamaha, and though it wasn't the most expensive guitar in the store (it was still pretty dear though), I didn't want to put it down. It just felt so nice, with a nice, slightly less agressive tone than your average steel strung, and I wanted it very much. I'm not sure if it was a favorite guitar, but there are certainly those instruments out there that just fit you to a t.

Actually Fender, when I first started playing I liked Fenders more than anything. Then I had a thing for Jacksons' for a while. Finally after playing about every guitar in Guitar Center I came to the conclusion that I love the way Ibanez guitars play. And although I do love the Universe model guitars mine is nothing like it. Except for the fact that it's a seven string. I picked the seven string just to be versatile and because I could basically. But yes I do like Steve Vai.

I like Fenders and LP's all the same.
Two different tones, two different gits!
I also dig the over $400buck Ibanez's too. Hell, is there really such a thing as a "really bad" guitar nowadays?

my favorite is fender, preferably the telecaster
however, the les-paul is nice too
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

Hey all:

Les Pauls rock and Fenders rock too. My FAV axe of choice is a G&L RAMPAGE. This is one of the early "shred" type models they put out. It is not made anymore. They made them for only a few years in the late 80's. This guitar is killer. In a nutshell it is a strat body, ebony fingerboard, 1-humbucker, 1-volume knob, locking Kahler trem and that is it! I made some mods to mine. Took the stock Schaller pickup out replaced it with a Duncan JB. Put a set of Schaller tuning machines in and replaced the locking nut with a Floyd locking nut. This guitar is the same as Jerry Cantrell plays from the band Alice in Chains. If you can get your hands on one definately get it. GO for the vintage yellow looking one, that's the butter!!!!!!!!! Its a one trick pony but rips. PEACE!

I love each. I have a SRV Strat(the 1st year of issue) and a
LP Classic Plus with killer tone & flametop to match!! For me, the song chooses the guitar, Govt Mule/Allmans etc.=LP. SRV/Clapton etc=Strat. Having a choice between the 2 greatest solidbodies of all times is a dream come true.

That's exactly why there is such a problem with picking "the best" guitar. If there was a best guitar, there would only be one that pros would use. As it is, every guitarist dreams of having them all, the Strat, the les paul, the PRS, then the ES175 etc, maybe a superstrat for shred, a tele, the list goes on, there is no point in saying one is better than the other, the music dictates, because the music is more important than the label. Then there are amps..... Oh no, it's too much, I want it all!

There's some nights where the my Strat just ain't cutting it and then my Tele sounds just right!
Then my Epi 335 Dot Deluxe just knocks those Blue Notes for a loop.

The best guitars for playing heavy metal are jackson (Profesional series, model DK3) and ESP (MK-III).
