Effect+Amp sound problem
Hey, i'd appreciate any help with this problem i have. At home i play with a peavy studio pro amp connected to a Boss Multi effects pedal, i have a great heavy distortion effect which sounds great. However, jamming-wise I play on a marshall stack, when i connect my Boss Me to it the effect I like sounds really low.., and if I turn up the Amp the sound is awful. In the end i have to play with the Gain the Amp brings, but thats not as crunchy as my pedal sound, what can I do to get my pedal effect sound neatly on the Amp??

At least part of the problem is that a guitar amp is intended to add pleasing kinds of distortion to the signal applied to it from a guitar. In order to reproduce the sound of your effect box, you need an amp that is accurate, which is not the same thing at all.
Another possible problem is the issue of signal level. The output of your effect unit may not be as strong as the signal from your guitar, so the amp isn't being driven as hard. Is the effect output adjustable? Can you turn it up instead of the amp?

There's a feature in Boss multi-effect units where you program the unit to what it's going to be plugged into (combo, stack, line) , you'll find it in the global settings.
It's not guaranteed to give good results , so usualy you have to re-program most of your patches on the new amp ... Try tweaking the EQ's first (both amp and effect).

Yeah, i can modify the level on the effects unit, however im pretty sure i have that on a very high level anyway, maybe its worthing bringing that down and turning the amp up..(?).
I'll try that, modifying the setup of the sound, i've looked and there is such an option whether you use stack, combo, etc... cheers, I'll come back if that doesn't work!!.. ;)
Thanks!

Have you tried plugging the guitar into the FX and the FX unit into the return of the amps FX loop ?

Yeah , I always like to do so ... But this way , you'll get an less harsh or lower tone as you described, which is the problem you're complaining about.
Usually , you'll have to go with the root solution , which is reprograming your patches on the new amp.
