I did this post years ago.. but I need help again.

I need a good, expensive reverb pedal. Ive tried so many and they sound plasticy. I have quite expensive guitars and amps so its important for me to keep that quality.

Dr Simon.. what do you use?

I have a TSL100 and use gibsons. I know you do too. SO what else do I need? I all I have is guitar amp and wah. What do you have that you think Id be mad not to have? Whats essential?

Cheers,
kriss

One reason old Ampeg amps sound so good is their use of the best reverb spring tanks in the world. You want long springs, with well-designed driver and receiver cicuits.

Maybe you need a better amp, instead of a new pedal? j/k

If you have nice guitars an amps, you want something equally nice for you reverb..., in other words, stay away from the stomp boxes for your reverb needs.

Have you looked into the TC Electronics G-Major? Hook up the G-Minor(or any midi pedal) to it, and you still have the convenience of a pedal...

Id have a go with something cheaper like an Alesis midiverb first to see if you like using the loop as the input / out puts of different patches varies.
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.

I know what that feels like. I only use a wah (Dunlop JH-1) and an overdrive pedal (Boss OD-1) anymore, and I use those sparingly. I like the sound of the Accutronics spring reverb tanks in my Ampeg amps, but I wouldn't use that in a studio.

Basicly, your rig makes your sound, and then you mess it about with time-based effects like flanging, chorus, echo, and reverb. Which means these effects should be introduced after the speakers. So, done properly, all that stuff would be added at the sound console, working on the signal from a mic in front of your speaker cab.

At least that's my theory today - ask me again in a week.
