i am considering buyin a fender american series telecaster with the 2 single coils. i dont know much about the inside of guitars and stuff so i was wondering if anybody could tell wether or not i could change the pickups or switching system so that i had a setting wear i could run both the single coils as a humbucker as well as all the other standard settings?

Get some Seymour Duncan 4 conductor humbuckers (Little '59 for neck and Hot Rails for bridge works amazing)...then get your volume and tone pots switched for DPDT switches so you can pull them up and push them down..one for each setting... Get the pups wired series/parallel...and have them wired to each of the pots..so for example..the tone pot controls the neck and the volume controls the bridge. Now you have 8 or 9 pup configurations.

BTW this is almost my setup exactly..except I have an SH-1 in the neck, which is almost the same thing as the Little '59.

hmm...well Page didn't use any humbuckers on Zep 1..just the single coil Tele sound...butttttt....ya...I found the Hot Rails and Stack for bridge position in "single coil" mode keep the original Tele sound..and in "humbucker mode" add alot of mid and bass for a real kick ass punchy sound.
