Do you mean studying guitar full-time or taking separate courses while you study something else?

I'm either going to GIT or Berklee from 2006 til 2010. There are a few other options I might consider as well (University of the Arts has Jimmy Bruno as a teacher as well as pat martino). The negatives about schools like Berklee and GIT is that the standard of living is so high that it costs alot of money to live in those cities. GIT is about $15,000 per year for tuition which isn't too bad, but when you add up the "bills", it comes out much more than that.

You are right about the costs of living when you are in university. But im one of those lucky natives that get funded to go to school. So everythin is all paid for :).

Wicked. I've never understood why more natives don't take advantage of this, at least here in Canada. Maybe it's pride getting in the way? I dunno. Anyways, the white man took your land, the least you can do is get some education in exchange!
... and that's all I have to say about that.

I'm pretty pissed, I came to my school wanting to take jazz lessons, and it was a pretty big part of my decision, because you can take lessons for free even if you arent a music major

the music program at the school is really strong, and i was told about that they had a guitar teacher, but the woman wasn't sure if they had jazz lessons available, which was alright I wouldnt mind learning more classical

but it turns out they dont and never did have a guitar teacher

so thats lame

I'm also looking into any music schools in Chicago. I live in Wisconsin and staying closer to my family would be nice. Basically I want to get a double-degree, one in recording (so I can work in a studio during the day), and one in guitar performance (for session playing/gigging). Basically I want it so that even if my music plans fail, that I'll still have a career working in the studio, doing session work, etc. I have $5000 saved up right now that I was previously considering for a custom guitar, but now it's my college fund. I make about $5000 per year, so by the end of high school I'll have 10K-11K saved up, plus my parents are helping out with funding a bit, now that they support me in my life choice.

I can't believe how expensive it is for you to study in the US!
Ok, I can see how a certain fee would help, but 10's of thousands of dollars each year??!!
Luckily all schools are free here, if they weren't my finances would need a... ...miracle.
