This is a duet tune I did awhile ago and although I really like the female vocals (she spent ages on em over the internet doing several styles), I've always wondered if a stronger vocalist might help the song. (ie, someone with a little R&B talent)

I recently had a female singer over the internet respond to an advertisement I placed for a vocalist...

She took this song:

... and added some vocals to it.

Just wanted to get some honest opinions on her talent and whether she'd fit the tunes I'm doing..particularly the R&B style compared to the 'techno-rock' stuff from the last CD.

Wow... very cool on both counts.

The first singer had a really "sweet" voice, kind of like Bjork before she went all kooky. The only problem I have with that song is with the lyrics. I know that's not what you were asking about, but to me singing and lyrics are intertwined. If a song has really bad lyrics, I won't listen, even if the singer is amazing. The lyrics in that song were pretty cliched in my opinion. Anyways, just thought I'd add that, even though you've probably already finished with that song and moved on by now.

Second song: I liked the R&B-type vocals as well. And it was neat to hear vocals on a track that I already liked as an instrumental. It was a very cool balance between the "techno-rock" and R&B. It was like 18 different styles of music in one song that filled my brain and made it nearly explode. The mixing was off, however, I doubt that you spent too much time mixing it or mixed it that way to showcase the vocals. In any case, I think she has a good voice. The only doubts I'd really have with her are her range and volume (i.e. can she really belt it out?).

Now I'm itchin' to hear the rest of the songs, with vocals!
... and that's all I have to say about that.

ALL generalizations are WRONG

Sure they do.... or it must have been a server glitch or something.
Try again cause they worked for me.

How are they screwing up?

Are you getting a 404 page?

Or are you waiting a long time for the song to load?

Basically, when I click em, I get a quicktime logo appear in a new page and then it takes about 15 seconds for the song to start playing.

If you're getting a 404 page then I've screwed something up on my end, but it's kinda weird if it was that cause I can download em no problem.

Try doing the right click and save em to your hard drive (or on mac just hold and use the pull down menu to select save to hard drive)

Just outa curiosity, try this file cause it's smaller:

If that doesn't work, the only thing I can think of is that your prefs files are set up wrong. ie, to not play certain files.... ie, you'd need to go into your prefs files and notifiy it to use a certain app when you click on it.

I tried the save as thing, and went through my internet pref. and everything was fine, but still nothing. When I click on the link a new window will open up but it will just be blank, and nothing will happen. When I right click and save target as, it tries to search for the address and then it tells me it can't find the address or it is wrong. I don't understand what is going wrong. I've never had this problem before.....especially with any of your mp3's. Oh well, I'll check it again when I get to work tomorrow and see if it works. If it does, I'll have to do some more investigating on my machine here at home.

wow, that 's majorly weird man.
I've tried it again on my end just to make sure and it's still working fine.

I haven't changed anything as far as settings or new ways of converting files so I don' have a clue why you're having problems.

Try these tunes if you're still screwing up: They're never given me problems before:

Well piss! Must be something wrong with my comp. at home. They're working fine up here at work. Unfortunately I can't listen to them here at work  . I think something's wrong with my internet explorer at home. It's been acting funny here lately. Hope I don't have a virus

"Tooting" did give me a 404 error though

yeah...somethin's majorly weird.
All you should have to do is click on the link and it should start playing.

It's a large file but that should'ne make a difference.

Try this one... it's only about 3 inutes long"

ok, first song...I love it! Her voice sits very well with your's (or whoever else was singing). The mix was also awsome. It had a very wide stereo presence that made me feel like I was surrounded by the music. The second songs vocals weren't as articulate as the first, but still sounded good. Her voice had something about it that reminds me of how I sound when singing through an SM57 straight into my soundcard (which isn't good!). I know they didn't have much if anything added to the vocals to make them sound better, but there was still something that didn't set too well with me. I believe she has a stronger sounding voice, which with a little practice could sound very good. I can't really say which would fit the song better though. I don't think you would be going wrong with either one.
