I'm looking for a bridge and neck humbucker pickup for my scheckter diamond seriers C-1 Elite. I'm leaning towards the Dimarzio humbucker from hell (neck) and Dimarzio Norton (bridge). I've read that the humbucker from hell sounds like a single coil So would this be good for neo-classical? I like the sound of a single coil; that treble glassy sound appeals to me. I know that the HFH has more output then a single coil as well. Has anyone tried the HFH? is it a versitle pickup? What about the Norton?

Any help would be appreciated thx

I'm not much on the neo-classical style, so I can't say what pickup is best for it. But if you like the single coil sound and you want a humbucker, I'd suggest getting a humbucker that you can split the coils on. Push-pull volume pot or a switch installed to the do the splitting.

Malmsteen uses single coils on his fender and Vai uses HSH configuration or sometimes just HH. So Malmsteen is primarily the single coil user. Cause vai dont forget uses ibanez guitars.

hmm...i'd say look into a phat cat single coil or a p-94.....but i'm not sure either would be enough output for you but both are literally single coil pickups that fit into humbucker slots.
okay...my post is done...goodbye.

To my ear HFH sound is all volume and no character, but if you go for Michael Angelo tone and playing, that's exactly what you need. Stick a booster and a distortion after it and the lightest tap will become the heaviest pick. However, I'd look for something a tad more subtle for neck and use HFH on the bridge.

A Duncan jazz in the neck...gives a nice warm to the touch tone(great tapping response).
Try once,fail twice...
