Not to go off topic or anything but..

I thought Fenders were Mexican made? Or just some/most of them?

There are American, Mexican, and Japanese fenders. Americans are the only ones that matter.

You're off your rocker. Japanese fenders are often the best, in fact the reason they stopped making them is because when people started realizing their quality Fender's market for american-made guitars hit the floor.

Nope. Squiers are made in Mexico. Back when Fender still made guitars in Japan the Japanese plants had higher quality control than here.

If you want the highest quality strat for your money your best bet is a well-maintained used Japanese strat.

hey man your a psycho. It dont matter if you know the serial # to jimi hendrix's guitar or not... its what you can play. I think your spending way to much time researchin about stuff that means jack Sh*it to anyone. My advice to you is shut up and play yer guitar. If you can back up what you say with your guitar you aint crap.

Funny, I should be telling you that for your attack on Japanese guitars because they aren't FENDER AMERICAN.

You haven't backed yourself up with anything yet.

I have a mexican made fender strat and I think it's fine. Course I bought it used and the pick ups were replaced before I bought it, but all the same, the quality of the instrument itself is good. This doesn't mean I think it's better than an American or Japanese or really any different at that, just that I think it's a good quality instrument. I grew up with fenders though...Fender and Gibson are my personal favorites, though I've got too many others that I'd like to have as well.

Well seriously... unless you buy it at Wal-Mart I don't think you're going to get too bad of an instrument...

Also you may want to check Ebay or the scratch and dent section of some online music shops...

I currently own a USA made, a Tex Mex (US made parts assembles in Mexico) and a Mexican strat. I play and record with all of them, they are all slightly different and have there one hi and low points.

They are all good axes however, the consensus of opinion is that the quality control is less stringent for the Mexican strats. This means that yes you can get a really good one however it is also possible to buy a real dog.

This makes it really important to try before you buy !!
