Ok.....I finally am able to get this solo I did up, but compare to everythign else posted her, it SUCKS, it's not the best sound quality and you can tell I mest up quite a bit....but it's something.......here it is......just leave me some feedback, I know it's crappy but I'm 12, and I can do better but I finally got this up. But I won't be as good as the other stuff on here for quite a while.

Don't put yourself down like that.....You always have to remember, as a musician, you are your own worst critic. It's not bad, but it's not great either. Keep it up, you'll be a great musician one day.

Agreed. I wish I had started back then too.

Don't brow beat yourself dude. Keep up the work and you'll get better at everything. From recording to performing. Don't lose heart or put your self down!

thanks, I've really been working on soloing and right now I'm getting better, but it doesn't exactly sound good, All I've really soloed with is the pentatonic scale, I don't know what else to do to improve on soloing, any suggestions?

Sh1t!!!! thats good!!!!! seriously more feeling than some of the stuff people have posted on here! they may be technicall better but just seem to run it off, sounds like you actualy mean what you play (if that makes any sense) especially the first section where its really slow, i liked it reminded me of pink floyds wich you were here.
1 bit of advice: be more confident with your bends, theyre a little flat, just push it a little further and maybe hold it for a sec or 2, cos then it would sound great! but don't worry it comes with experience and as your ears become more err "tuned" you will notice an it will come naturally to play it right!

Learn the scales all the way up and down the neck, and start learning to play scales in positions you're not used to, this will help you be able to move up and down the neck much much faster! Also, work on various techniques like legato, arpeggios, trills, tapping, etc!

Axl's got some good advice there. Aside from tapping and sweep picking, I learned a ton of techniques just trying to figure out my favorite songs. Plus it feels really damn good when you can play a song from start to finish, rather than just having everything you play sound like an exercise.

I guess I just have a.. umm... lazy appraoch to learning. I just learnt lots of songs and was always concience of whats being played and why. I cuold write a guitar solo and it would sound like slash.. why?... because I know everything hes ever played, I know the tricks he does, how he structures his solos, the tones he uses, the scales, the 'special moves'. I tihnk by learning everything an artist/band has done you are giving yourself invalid skills. The trick is to do that with a few bands until you have your own style.

I see style, and how bands sound, as really them being a mixture of there influences styles.

Oh, and 'special moves'... thats what I call these...

----------------12-----
--------15p12---------
---14b-----------------
-----------------------
-----------------------
-----------------------

OR

-----------------------------
------7--8--9--10-----------
--9b----------------r9---7~~
-----------------------------
-----------------------------
-----------------------------

The first one is a series of notes that sound cool when repeated. SLash uses them in countless songs as do so many other guitarists.

The second one is in hotel california and patience by GnR, it so is a famous lick.

To me thats all music really is... just a case of building up an inventory of ideas that you can put places.
