Trying a 3/4 size guitar can help you and practice stretching to the frets will help too. Seagull makes them and there's the Baby Taylor which you might find in a pawn shop.
But rock Fossils, indeed...any "music fossil" has a bag of tricks you could learn. Undoubtedly, what you want to play was based on the 12 bar blues or another blues style originally.

try getting an Ovation acoustic they are not huge and they are easy to play and put out nice volume and sound
