Ok, you have a band that is rock and you kinda want it to be like 80's metal rock but also your songs are poppy, catchy. But how do you play poppy rock songs without people thinking your trying to be punk, because these days thats what alot of pop songs are, wanna be punk. What is the difference between a pop punk band and a pop rock band??? What makes them different frmo eachother????

Well its simple, to not be punk make your song with more than 2 chords and a vocalist who doesnt sound like whats his face from blink 182 and bam your better than punk. But really though, in your genre it would contain solos, punk is devoid of them so thats proof enough your not punk. but to answer your question, the difference is by example:
pop-punk -> Good Charlotte
pop-rock-> either a) a delicious candy or,
b)poison (technically glam rock but close enough)
its really just about lyrical content and attitude

I agree with ya there ketsueki, good advice. Stay away from your entire song structure consisting of power chords, or at least don't play them in the punk style. If you don't your songs will sound very linear meaning you only notice the root changes as you play the song. Make your songs dynamic, come up with some solos and bridges for the song as opposed to the archetypical punk song (balls out power-chordin'). Have some sort of melodical sound structure in your song. Does your singer sing? Or does he have the punk voice where he just kinda says the lyrics in a strained-talking type of voice? That could make a huge difference in how your songs come across to an audience.
Blues is easy to play, but hard to feel.
