I agree with ya there ketsueki, good advice. Stay away from your entire song structure consisting of power chords, or at least don't play them in the punk style. If you don't your songs will sound very linear meaning you only notice the root changes as you play the song. Make your songs dynamic, come up with some solos and bridges for the song as opposed to the archetypical punk song (balls out power-chordin'). Have some sort of melodical sound structure in your song. Does your singer sing? Or does he have the punk voice where he just kinda says the lyrics in a strained-talking type of voice? That could make a huge difference in how your songs come across to an audience.
