I've been trying to tune my guitar with both my rp100a processor and "Guitar FX Box" software. In both cases the tuners go crazy. On the rp100, the light that shows whether to tune higher or lower just jumps up and down the row. And on the software, the "Hz" recording number just jumps around. Anyone know what's wrong here with my guitar?

Not Sure Whats Wrong With Your Guitar Dude, But If I Was In Your Shoes I Would Ditch The Technology Lol And Use The Good Ole Fashioned Harmonic Finger Tuning!!! That Always Works For Me!!! Done That For 20yrs And Never Failed Me Yet!! ( Damn Batteries Not Included!! Lol)

Think you'll get more help in the Gear section. So I moved it.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

I wouldn't assume the guitar was at fault. Some electronic tuners get badly confused by harmonics. A pure tone works best for them, so use the neck pickup instead of the bridge. And roll the Tone knob back a bit. You may also find that you need to mute all of the strings except the one you are tuning.

This probably sounds really dumb but it's happened to me on more than one occasion... are ya sure the guitar is actually plugged into the tuner?
ie, check to make sure the tuner isn't just picking up sounds from the built in mic.

You could try changing the battery, low batteries can cause all sorts of problems.
My instructors page and www.studiotrax.net for all things recording.

Oh, yeah! That happens a lot with stand-alone tuners. From the word 'software" in the original question, I assumed we were talking about plugging in to a computer.
