Lesson 3:
This lick is based on the Gypsy scale, which is:
1 - b2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - b6 - b7 – 1
The lick, which is C Phrygian, is interesting, since it combines that “World Music†sound with a couple of bluegrass and bluesy moves. I use this lick frequently when playing with the Zemer band in Baltimore. Feel free to substitute bends as desired, and vibrato helps.
