Description
In this tutorial we're going to explore what I think is an extremely underrated tool from the classic rock toolkit. I'm talking about melodic sequences, which may sound technical, but I'm sure you'll recognize the sound of it from countless classic solos. Mixing in this sound with your regular pentatonic soloing will give your lead playing an epic and melodic boost.
I'll be using my Gretsch Duo Jet for this practice tune, on the bridge pickup, and I'll be running it through a small Fender amp with a bright tone and a little bit of reverb. In front of that I'm using this overdrive pedal called "Mudhoney", and I'm also using an EQ pedal to give me that iconic somewhat nasally midrange boost. But you can of course play this practice tune without this effect and on any guitar and amp combination that you have available. Let's get started!
