Description

I thought it was the most logical choice to start out explaining what a P.A. system is and I'm of course hoping many of you will become so ambitious and successful with your acoustic guitar playing that your music will ring out through countless P.A.s for many people to enjoy. But in this lesson I'm going to show you a much more simple alternative that is useful for anyone who just wants a little more volume out of their acoustic guitar, which is a small acoustic amplifier.

This is my little acoustic amp made by a company called Phil Jones. It has a very natural sound, and it's good for smaller spaces where you just need a little bit of amplification. I would say I could play for maybe 10-20 people with one of these, but anymore than that and I would probably need a P.A. to be heard properly.

On the back you can see that you have volume controls, and then you have control over the low frequencies, the middle frequencies and the high frequencies or treble as it's often called.

There's also a line out, which means you can send the signal to a larger P.A. system as well. That means you could hear yourself from the speaker in the amp and then the audience could hear you through the P.A. system, so you wouldn't need a monitor.

An acoustic amp, regardless of the make and model is a great option for most players who want a little bit of amplification, but don't need to be able to compete with a loud drummer for example.
