Description

"Please Mr. Postman" has been covered by everyone from the local band at the corner coffee shop, to The Beatles. This song is easy to learn and fun to play. You'll have everyone dancing and singing along in no time!

An upbeat pop song with a simple chord progression and a lyric that tells a story that everyone can relate to. Trademark background vocals kick off the intro with an instantly recognizable call and response: "Wait! Oh, yeah, wait a minute, Mr. Postman". Like so many vocal based hits, this conversation between the backing and lead vocals runs throughout the song.

In the key of D Major this song features a repeating progression of 4 chords: D, B min, G and A! If you are new to barre chords B min is a good place to start. We'll take some time to study barre chord technique and I'll give you some tips and tricks to help your either establish or improve your barre chord life!

Since we'll be using the same chord progression throughout the song, we'll be thinking about how to get around the fingerboard efficiently by using our left hand wisely.

Thinking about our right hand, we're looking for a clean, steady rhythm. We'll review the basic strum and break it down in to "zones" to create an interesting and accurate rhythmic and harmonic landscape. Our job is to listen to and lock in with the other instruments so that we can lay down a great groove to support the soulful vocals featured on "Please Mr Postman"

The form/structure of this song is pretty simple, after the hallmark intro we kick straight into the chorus, a great pop music device, songwriters take note!

Song Form:
