Description

Now let's learn how to identify a Quarter Note, which gets 1 beat.

And, an Eighth Note, which gets a half of a beat.

A single eighth note on its own looks like a quarter note, but with the addition of a little flag coming off the vertical stem, to the right.

2 (or more) eighth notes played in succession will be joined by a single horizontal line, connecting the two notes together.

This is to make it easier on the eyes to read in a piece of music.
