Vibrato in Rock

Now it's time to look at another extremely common technique used in rock soloing, called vibrato. This technique imitates what many singers do when they hold a note for a long time.

You basically just bend a note up and release it back down, and then you repeat that with a consistent rhythm. Once you get comfortable with this technique, you don't have to "wiggle" in time or in rhythm with the music, but it's a great way to practice it!

Every time I push up on the B string, it hits the G string, and the G string rings. How do you keep the surrounding strings from ringing?

You want to have all three fingers on the B string and slightly flattened so that your index and middle fingers can lightly touch the G string, preventing it from ringing. If you look at the video, you can sometimes see Anders' fingers touching the G string a bit.
