In this video I explain the outline of the tutorial.
We will talk about why CAD tuning is useful, how to grab useful chords, like power chords, and how you can use this tuning in a clean context, as well as in a heavy metal riffing context.
In CAD tuning, all you're doing is tuning down your low E string two whole steps down to a C. So your strings are going to be tuned, from low to high - CADGBE. This is much less of a hassle compared to using a full Drop C tuning, where you have to tune down not only the low E string to a C, but also drop all of the other strings one whole step.
Needless to say, if you don't always wish to be in a heavy C tuning, just dropping down the E string is much more convenient.
I also wrote two little songs for you to illustrate the sound of these tunings, and you can play along with me, or just jam with the backing tracks.
To tune to CADGBE, you can use the Reference Tuner and manually change the the low E to a C.
