When trying to play Em-D chords (like in the song Begin again from Guitar Fundamentals 1) my thumb comes to this position (D chord)

It doesn't look right. Do I need to fix this somehow?

Hi there,

For whatever reason the image is not showing up. Could you describe the issue if possible?

It's difficult to describe w/o picture. Also English is not my first language.

Here's a smaller image (D chord, thumb is on the upper part of the neck and it is not straight):

Em is played on the lower strings, so I put my thumb on the upper part of the neck.

Should I move it to the lower part of the neck when I switch to D?

Should I try to keep the thumb straight?
