I was curious about your post history, found this

So based upon the info you provided, you are probably 27ish, spent a wad of cash on a very nice guitar and thought this was going to be easy.

It's not. However, maybe in a few decades you will be at a place were all this makes sense and you can enjoy the guitar and learning.

Took me from 17 to 55 to figure it out, you will too. I still have the guitar I bought when I was 17 btw, so don't sell your guitar.

I might be dead and gone by the time you get to enjoy the guitar so my advice is to relax and best of luck.

What level or kind of skills & ideas are you interested in? I've got plenty of material at an intermediate or advanced level. There are some other instructors that have that kind of material also.

I think quite often you see the beginner related material featured prominently because there are a lot beginners level players. So, sometimes people miss or don't see all the other instructors that do a variety of material beyond beginner level.

What kind of exercises are looking for? I have some pentatonic exercises that are sequences of 3s that span all 5 boxes & the entire fretboard.

Then probably the best route for you is using "actual books and youtube videos." That is inconsistent with what most of us have found. And William MG probably has the explanation of that.

I find this site great. There is a lot of information and lessons. In fact so much it can get overwhelming but what has worked for me is to find a teacher and stick at it by working through their program. I reckon Chris Schlegel is excellent. Really enjoying the tutorials and explanations thanks Chris. I'm finally starting to piece this whole music thing together after all these years.
