Hey GT, did administration ever consider adding spanish guitar to styles of guitar? That would be so amazing

Spanish guitar style usually means some kind of Flamenco guitar style. I'm assuming that's what you are referring to. It's a very specialized style so there's not really enough demand for a full section on GT.

Since it's part of classical guitar style in general I mention it in the context of this tutorial that covers overall right hand techniques.

Also part of my arrangement for Malaguena has a strumming section that uses a type of flamenco strumming.

In some cases the terms Spanish & classical are synonymous; or at least overlap. The origin of the category Spanish guitar is due to the fact that most early classical style guitarists, composer, arrangers were Spanish, or of Latin descent: Sor, Tarrega, Segovia, Albeniz.

I've seen some cases in which a distinction is made that Spanish guitar is only music by those Latin guitarists in only their compositions that contain Latin rhythms or are from Spanish dances.

My personal favorite is Francisco Tarrega.

This thread in my instructor forum has links to all the classical material organized into a structured curriculum.

Hope that helps!

Hello the term Spanish Guitar is wrong and there's no such guitar. Flamenco what it is and very hard to learn the skills to play, even tougher than to learn blues and jazz...

Here's a masterpiece of Vicente Amigo - Callejon de la Luna (Taranta) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC8FiM5526w

And I dedicated this tune to my one and only love of my life who i met (on Facebook) when my love studied in the 10th standard and i immediately fell in iove with her; still am i and shall forever be until death.

Not Salient, anymore?

I would encourage anyone to play and study Spanish or (Flamenco) guitar, especially if you like to play fingerstyle. If you can get good at Flamenco style, your fingerpicking hand will rarely be an issue any longer. There are also so many incredible techniques in Spanish or Flamenco guitar. Guitar Tricks has a competitor which has two incredible flamenco guitar teachers. Watch Lucas Imbiriba on youtube as well.
