Italy are going to smash us... but even to have come this far is staggering, for a little country like us.

Sorry: this is all quite irrelevant to any non-soccer fan. Its a good game while you're playing it, but I'm not the least bit impressed by the fact that a huge portion of the world's population watches the tournament. :p

I can honestly say I've never even watched half a soccer game other than one I've been in. (yes I played soccer for two years when I was like 11-13, decided I hated it, quit, and picked up skateboarding... skating led to guitar and here I am! there's the last 5 years of my life in a nutshell! )

its a beautiful game...well i dont think americans will give 2 hoots abt it until the national team achieves something real big in the tournament...obviously they cant do it anymore this yr but they can try again...same thing with australia...the country was never interested....now it had just changed history altogether...new fans...whichis good for football in australia...

Yes. Sunday is the big day when my country is going to see the English team face to face.

England fears the phantom of the penalty kicks.

It`s gonna be an interesting game. Go Ecuador!
Someday I`ll play like in my dreams.

A big problem with the US soccer/football program is... Our best athletes don't even play soccer. Whereas... other countries it's the only sport they play. All our really talented athletes play football, baseball, or basketball for a living... Even if they do show a large amount of potential with soccer, they're still pushed into one of the other sports... That's why I don't get that into soccer... it'd be more interesting if we didn't have other sports taking so much away from our program.

Congrats on making it through!!

ecuador have been phenomenal man...they have heaps of potential...

its the same with australia, we have footy, which is a modified version of rugby or something...and people are nuts abt it...because of that people dont focus on soccer very much...if at all...but since the entry into the world cup i reckon soccer wud get a major kickstart in australia...

Agreed. Haha, the State of Origin has been sidelined a bit, hasn't it? :D

Australia in the last 16, against Italy, I'm gonna watch that massacre for sure!

Netherlands played 0-0 vs Argentina, can't wait for a rematch, allthough we played really bad, hope we will improve cause we ain't winning like this

I watched Nederlands vs Portugal to see what the fuss is about. I'm still wondering. Soccer is good execise for people who play the sport, but its almost as boring to watch as golf is.

Although golf players don't usually kick each other...

where i agree that sometimes matches can be a drag...no action and all...but its just like how americans love baseball or american football...feelings...impossible to describe in words... ;)

Meh; I'm Canadian. I watch hockey, sometimes. And the CFL Grey Cup match. Other than that, I find the concept of 'spectator sports' to be oxymoronic. :p It seems to me that the typical sports fan is unfit and overweight.

with just 10 seconds to go...until extra time the italian team gets a penalty..how effing cruel is that...it was bound for a 0-0 draw to extra time...10 seconds...10 effing seconds
