digitech whammy
is the digitech whammy pedal a good substitute for using a real tremelo bar?

Pitch shifting pedals are not a substitute for trem bars , there are special tricks for each exclusively ... Also pitch shifting pedals sound different from trem bars.

Yes sure!
I have an Ibanez universe UV77MC '89 and Original WH-1, I don't use my universe anymore, instead I use a custom modded chandler guitar. And this guitar doesn't used floyd rose, it's kahler, I don't know what model, anyway I don't like it. So I removed the trem and use much of my whammy in stead. Although you can not imitate axactly the work of tremolo bar but is sure a great substitute, and there are some tricks can that be done using the whammy and is almost impossible to do it using tremolo bar, oh well vice-versa
