How do oyu read scales. I dont get it? and does anyone kno wany sites / what scales I should learn I'm a a novice player yet know nothing of scales. thank you.

Learn some major scale shapes just as a framework to get you learning music theory (intervals, modes, and such). It's not a particularly fun scale, it sounds kinda sterile in fact, but it's handy because it's the scale that western (I'm talkin' hemisphere here, not country music) music is based on. Also learn some pentatonic shapes, these are by far the most used scales in rock music, and will keep you busy for years.
