You're a Canuck, so check out Simon & Patrick. I think they're made by Larivee, which would then make it seem that S&P is the "lower"-end line and Larivee the higher end. Although, if you've played an S&P, I wouldn't call them lower-end. Nice tone, just a few things to cut costs (e.g. no 3-band EQ on the pickup).
Yamaha makes some very nice acoustics, in my opinion. They have one (forget which model) where the body is a little bit thinner (measuring from the guitar's top to the back) than a regular acoustic. Very nice finish.... and the tone was very nice plugged in, as well. Not so much acoustically (i.e. unamplified).
... and that's all I have to say about that.
