Element Eighty... if anyone's ever heard of em :)

I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what in the world that Element Eighty uses in the way of effects for the intro of their song called "Rabies". Is it some kind of envelope effect, and i just haven't caught the right configuration yet, or is it something else entirely? More importantly, has anyone ever even heard of Element Eighty, lol... :)
