I have a GNX2, like the 3 but with out the recording gizmo. The recording gizmo looks cheep and nasty, I wouldn't recommend it. You will also need to get an additional smart card for it to be useful.

I decided that if I wanted a recorder, Id get a recorder and if I wanted an effects board, Id get the GNX2. I don't regret it for a minuet as it sounds great. Most of the presets are useable and editing is easy.

I have the GNX3 and I love it..even the recorder...I only use to record exercises
Also with any of the GNX's you can download some pretty nice sounds off the internet...and also make your own
by the way..Dr.Simon..have you created any of your own tones?

I just ripped em off of guitar magazines, Guitar One and Guitar World both give GNX2/3 tones out to complement the songs in that issue !

Two approaches 1) The structured approach. This is about having a finishing point already fixed in your mind. Pick some one whose tone you wish to emulate and find out what kit they use. Then dial in those settings and fiddle about until you get either what you are after or something you like.
2) the random approach. Fiddle with stuff until it sounds good!

gluck and happy fiddling !
