Hi all.

What I'm looking for is a sound similar to metallica, but considerably more body to the tone if possible - good example of what i'm trying to accomplish for instance is something that sounds like LUSTRA if anyone knows who they are (pretty obscure band im sure there are better examples)

I'm working with an ibanez mm1 (mike mushok) baritone guitar, which ive heard hooked up to ther ppls rigs and it absolutely sang. This is a perfect guitar for the sound i'm after and i know it but I'm having a hard time getting my rig to pull it off.

I've got a Boss ME-50 and the crunch setting on their overdrive is pretty crummy. Similar sound but it's got enough fuzz that it sounds flat and dry. I've played with settings for some time now on the other o/d settings but i just can't seem to get the sound I'm after.

I usually play with:
- just a pinch of reverb (room or hall reverb, ie not a whole lot of resonance)
- the rack's tone modify off: I usually stick to the guitar's natural tone
- compression either completely off or on very slightly -- i need to have expression control and clipping ruins that
- playing off the bridge humbucker with tone adjusted down a bit for that sharp but at the same time thick sound.
- I've also adjusted the bridge humbucker a little bit closer to the strings to pull a fuller sound

I won't touch the chorus or flange settings with a 10 foot pole unless im covering someone else and they play it with those effects. Personally not my fav things in the world :P

this is a killer guitar and i know i could get the sound I'm after if i had a few hundred more bucks to spend on a killer rig, but I can't. Can anyone suggest to me how i might get closer with what I have? Any help is appreciated greatly.
