I was just wondering if anyone would know if an harmonizer VST plugin exists? That would work for a guitar, that is... I know it's a very CPU intensive effect, but with today's computers, it seems like it wouldn't be a problem...
Harmonizer plugin?
Hi again,
I was just wondering if anyone would know if an harmonizer VST plugin exists? That would work for a guitar, that is... I know it's a very CPU intensive effect, but with today's computers, it seems like it wouldn't be a problem...

Cool thanks. How does it compare with Akai Decabuddy? The Akai seems, hu, a little less expensive!

I know Autotune is the industry standard.
I use it with Sonar 3 and it is very cool though like a sonic maximizer you don't want to over use it !
No idea how it compares with anything else as I have always been able to do exactly what I wanted to do with autotune. I have used in on Vox, guitar and bass to (IMHO) great effect !

But from the descriptions I've read, it's for pitch correcting. Can you also add notes? How many can you add simultaneously? I can add 4 with decabuddy...

Yup it is mainly for pitch correction however I think you can also add harmonies.
I will have a look when I get home!

Well yes but you have to be a bit clever about it.
One way to do it is to record your track and duplicate it to another channel on your recorder. Then shift the pitch of the duplicated track up a third or whatever and "hey presto" instant harmonies. You can then mix in the degree of processed vs non processed using the faders and pan for extra air !

Doesn't look like it but that is not what it is really for, it is a vocal pitch correction program. You can use it live in real time however if harmonies are what you are after you could try. I have just had a quick shufty through www.music123.com AND I don't think you are going to get a better legal deal than the Akai Deca Buddy Harmonizer VST Plug In
