Without doubt guitar virtuoso Steve Vai is one of the greatest multi-categoried guitarists ever. From Frank Zappa to David Lee Roth and Whitesnake, he then set out to start a solo career with the release of 'FLEX-ABLE'. But the album PASSION AND WARFARE is in my opinion his greatest work to date, it covers pretty much all aspects of guitar playing and virtuosity that can in no way be put into one single category.

Steve Vai's incredible sense of melody is just amazingly awesome to listen to, and to comprehend when you think about it, like how does he come up with that, etc.

Steve Vai does shred (and very well too), but is it possible that he can be one of the fastest SHREDDERS out there? Is he faster than Yngwie Johan Malmsteen, Michael Angelo Batio, Uli Jon Roth or Joe Satriani?

Haha, I was the first one to vote? That's great, cause now everybody knows that Petrucci is fastest!!!

How can I be so sure: Cause he's the only one I've ever seen who plays as fast both with disortion and without disortion.

Malmsteen should be no 2, cause he still plays a guitar from the 70's, Vai and the other have high-tech stuff (Petrucci aswell though), and shows that it is the guitarist who play fast, not the gutiar.

I vote Satriani, but since he's not on there, Vai it is.
I want the bomb
I want the P-funk!

My band is better than yours...
